Which group videoconferencing solution doesn't totally suck, apart from MS Teams? With arbitrary participant sharing screen, no problems with headsets, etc. Discord sucks, Telegram sucks, Google Meet sucks, Slack's Huddle sucks
This is the worse message you can get from a saas platform like
@tldview. If you offer a free plan and you want to have people switching to your pro plan, your platform should be able to handle it. This message is sending a very bad message and gives me no trust in them
Google Meet is the worst video conferencing product of all time, and it never gets better, only worse.
The “late to every meeting” is to be taken literally with Zoom.
How is Zoom still around? Microsoft Teams and Google Meet are cheaper, not to mention a zillion other products. Is it a status thing -- people think you're fancier if you invite them to a Zoom?

….many of the other transcription AI apps, are just a transcription service which has a flow behind the scenes when a meeting is over which copy-pastes to ChatGPT with prompts. There's nothing smart about it and the summaries make no sense

Every click and update like that matters. How many meetings moved off zoom bc of the inconvenience?
I'm always early to my meetings and interviews, I like to join at least 5-3 mins early.
But on some very few occasions, MTN will just be running mad. I opened a link 10 minutes to a meeting before, and before Zoom finally loaded up and let me it, I was 5 minutes late.
That’s crazy. Teams randomly stops working with no explanation and no steps to fix it.
So I think fireflies is really good in summarization as a chrome extension.
In terms of meeting notes it’s bad. Can’t get accents, so we all laugh reading it post the meeting.

Is there a video conferencing platform made for designers and artists? Something that prioritizes stream quality, has great annotation tools for working sessions, with multiple simultaneous streams, etc...
Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex have some good features none of them feel great to use or hit the following points:
- Good stream quality for art, video, gameplay.
- Desktop audio sharing
- Annotation
- Easy to use, not bloated. Good UI.

Today I hosted a live session on Zoom that had 300+ people registered. But evidently a Zoom Pro account, which is what I have, maxes out at 100 participants, so multiple people couldn't get onto the live session 🫠🫠🫠
A notification from Zoom letting me know I needed to upgrade to Zoom Business to accommodate all my Zoom registrants would have been simple, lucrative, and instilled so much goodwill. Instead, they created a frustrated customer.

The @Skype icon has been following me for the last 15 years. I don't know how to get rid of this thing. I've tried everything. Deleting the app (obviously) doesn't work. Changing laptop and companies don't work either.

slack huddles work ok for audio and screen sharing. don't think there is any conferencing capability that always invites outside of workspace though.

Google Meet is fucking abysmal!
It’s actually worse than web-Zoom, I think? It constantly locks up in Safari, or chucks me out of the video, and says “You lost your network connection”. I have a 900Mbps internet connection! I definitely have not!

Which is just another question - why can't those companies make them good? They have all the money in the world to do it

Forcing me to login against my will to watch a video shared w/ me, *forcing calendar access*, and then stupidly starting a 7 day trial.. super poor form & probably net bad (or at least I’d hope so)
seriously @MicrosoftTeams you couldn't have designed less user-friendly meeting links even if you tried, right? they're SO HARD to work with: copy, paste, send in emails... bloody mess, half of the time the calendar doesn't recognise them

You know @otter_ai, charging me 50% more to get substantially less under the same plan is just incredibly bad way to treat customers. I was led to believe my current product at pro plan rate would be grandfathered in, too. Good /s job cultivating brand loyalty.

Its weird how Microsoft Teams just doesn't really work and everyone is fine just carrying on using it,
Teams on my personal laptop refuses to remember my camera settings and refused to work with the computer’s microphone this evening. Also refused to run from a browser for some random reason.
Is Meet falling short of the finish line? Are Teams running in different directions? Is Zoom ready for tomb?

2. Don’t use their own product

If so, what did you switch to? I hate that we use zoom buuuut the alternative suck for other reasons.
All it takes for a company to lose you for life is to fool you once. I signed up to a monthly Adobe subscription, only to realized it was a *yearly* one paid monthly (?!) when I tried to cancel, and Adobe did not let me.
That was it: me done with Adobe. I cannot recommend them.

agreed. I used Zoom this morning. There is always some problem with it. Latency is one issue but I come across way more interface problems (logging in, audio, chat etc)

@otter_ai is so incredibly bad, I can't believe they're charging me to hear MY OWN voice recordings. I can only hear my 25 most recent recordings, if I want to hear beyond that I have to pay?

Zoom now crashes at least once a day, usually in the middle of meetings. starting to remind me of Homers website in the Simpsons the way Zoom are trying to add so much in, please just do meetings really well.
